What we collect

A cookieless page-view record: the page, the referring site, and a short-lived random identifier that lets us count visits without identifying you. If you submit a form, we keep what you typed so we can reply.

Tools process input in your browser. Files you analyse are not uploaded.

How we use it

We score the pages and tools used in a single visit to judge how useful the site is, and to see whether people researching a problem ever get as far as asking us about it. That scoring uses the page-view record described above and nothing else. We add no cookie, no profile and no third-party data.

The identifier rotates every day and cannot be linked back to a person, so we cannot follow you between visits and we cannot contact you on the strength of it. If we never hear from you, you stay anonymous to us. We consider that the correct trade and we are not looking to change it.
